| A TRULY AMAZING FELLOW AFRICAN I have had the pleasure of becoming acquainted and good friends with one of the most amazing and creative people I have come across in the health sphere, she lives in Spain now, but originates from Africa. BUT THIS IS HER STORY DEAR PARENTS,CAREERS OF A CHILD WITH VERY SPECIAL HEALTH NEEDS Please let me ask you some questions about your child's health and wellbeing.:- Do you desperately want to help your child who has special needs? Are you looking for a way to calm/stimulate him or her? Are you looking for ways to have an even deeper level of communication with him or her? Are you looking for ways to have fun and to explore the full potential of your special needs child? Are you looking for ways to help your child to integrate socially? Are you looking for a way to improve your child's posture, co-ordination and general health? Are you looking for ways to give your child confidence and a feeling of self-worth? IF YOUR ANSWER TO THESE QUESTIONS IS YES THEN MY MANUAL "DANCE TO HEALTH - HELP YOUR SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD THROUGH IMPROVISATIONAL DANCE" COULD WELL BE PART OF THE ANSWER. I am a Dance Movement Therapist who has worked with adults suffering from a range of problems including severe mental ill health, various health problems, stress, medication , drug dependency and personality problems. MY MAIN WORK, HOWEVER, HAS BEEN WITH CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS. I have worked with children with severe learning and physical problems including Downes Syndrome, cerebral palsy and autism amongst others.I have a great-nephew who has been diagnosed as autistic and has special educational needs. My manual tells you "How To...Dance Your Special Needs Child to improved Health and Wellbeing. THIS MANUAL IS ABSOLUTELY UNIQUE. IT REALLY IS THE ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND! NO ONE HAS SUGGESTED BEFORE THAT PARENTS OF SPECIAL NEED CHILDREN ARE CAPABLE OF ACTING AS DANCE MOVEMENT THERAPISTS TO THEIR CHILDREN. I wrote it to encourage the parents and careers of children with special needs to set up their own Dance Movement Therapy groups. What is offered is NOT A CURE but it is a discovery which will bring about greater harmony between MIND-BODY-AND-SPIRIT. You will notice results over time. My method can be adapted to fit any culture anywhere in the world. WHAT DOES MY MANUAL OFFER YOU? You don't need to have trained as a professional dancer. (I didn't ) I teach you how to transform ordinary everyday movements into dance. I help you to build your lesson plans and suggest music choices and props for your sessions. I am very anxious to get my site to a point where I can go on to other things. I produced a self-instructional Ghanaian dance video some years ago. I marketed it with 10% going to an English charity which worked in Ghana amongst other countries. I had some regular outlets which sold the video. But I was at an enormous disadvantage in that I had never done business before and I lacked the funds to publicise it properly. I discontinued the video when I moved to Spain. Now I am hoping to re-edit the footage as a DVD. I also have unedited footage for an ABC of Ghana which is intended to teach children the alphabet illustrating the letters with objects from Ghana. Although the footage is unedited at the moment I do have a Shot List and a script. Both the dance video and ABC footage were shot by me in Ghana. I think with the developments in computer technology I should be able to produce DVD's of reasonable quality myself. Anyway it was one of my New Year's Resolutions to make these two projects marketable. HELP YOUR SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD THROUGH INSPIRATIONAL DANCE - e-mail info@dance-to-health-help-your-special-needs-child.com TESTIMONIALS I highly recommend "CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE">Dance to Health" by Dzagbe Cudjoe especially for children with disabilities. She easily shows parents how to use simple movements to enjoyable music to help these children form appropriate brain connections. In particular, the vestibular, proprioceptive, visual, and auditory systems are significantly enhanced through dance movement therapy. Also, the interaction between the parent and the child and between a group and the child during dance improves social and communication skills. "Dance to Health" is a necessary asset for anyone interested in a fun yet effective therapy for pediatric disabilities. Valerie L. Richey, MD, ND The Healthy Path, LLC www.The-Healthy-Path.org www.Autism-in-the-Christian-Home.com Dr Judith Lynne Hanna Senior Research Scholar at the University of Maryland writes: "To dance is human and through history humans have used dance to communicate, to heal, to enjoy. Cudjoe's manual for parents to help their children through dance is a welcome gift to be cherished and used. Trying Dance Movement Therapy at home or forming groups that meet outside is feasible for any parent. Dance Movement experience is not needed. Cudjoe's rich experience and sensitivity in working with children with special needs shines throughout the valuable manual. As she explains the benefits of dance movement therapy and guides the reader, she wisely urges individualizing dance movement activity to fit one's child's own situation". Judith Lynne Hanna, Ph.D. is author of Dancing for Health: Conquering and Preventing Stress (AltaMira Press,2006) and Partnering Dance and Education (Human Kinetics Press, 1999) as well as other books and hundreds of articles. She was keynote speaker at the American Dance Therapy Association Meeting and serves on its journal's editorial board. HERE'S WHAT ONE OF THE TEACHERS AT A SCHOOL WHERE I TAUGHT DANCE MOVEMENT HAS WRITTEN:- "The group taking part in Mrs Cudjoe-Calvocoressi's sessions was of very mixed ability - ranging from wheelchair bound PMLD pupils and children with behaviour difficulties to much more able, mobile pupils. All of them gained a great deal from the sessions, enjoying being involved, with many of them gradually moving well to the music; and improvising for themselves. They looked forward to Mrs Cudjoe-Calvocoressi's visits and these sessions led to further work in art from some of them. They also enjoyed being involved in making a video of the dancing. I, personally, thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the sessions - finding them an enjoyable means of exercising, therapeutic and creative; as well as a good learning experience."
