St Aiden's Newsletter 03 September 2007 Hello Everyone Happy Monday! Happy belated Spring Day to all in the southern hemishphere and Happy Labour Day to those in the USA. In keeping with Celebrating Spring We have added a section at http://www.staidenshomeschool.com/seasons/spring.html which contains spring activities, stories, crafts and lesson plans. I have created everything in downloadable PDF format so it's really click and print. More activities will be added during the course of this week, including a Spring Fact File and Activity Book for Pre-K5. (again the age appropriate pages can be selected and printed) Our Nursery Rhymes section has undergone its facelift - finally :) Here you can see the new format and download mini activity units for the poems and rhymes, including all the well known Mother Goose favourites, some units in Afrikaans, Tswana and Zulu. Most units include tracing practice and notepaper. Humpty Dumpty is my favourite which also has numbered flash cards and a Humpty Jugsaw puzzle :) You can access these free PDF downloads at http://www.staidenshomeschool.com/nursery_rhymes_poems/NURSERY-RHYMES.html Our Countries of Africa series is still under development with my having only got as far as uploading (still) Burundi. The units are activity packs, and include notebooking pages, fact files, teachers and student's notes and resources. They can be accessed at http://www.staidenshomeschool.com/africa/countries/Africa-Countries.html A new addition to the Maths Section is a lovely online multiplication table which has been "licensed" to us by maths is Fun. I love this table, it is so simple for the kids to use, they simply slide their mouse over the "sum" and the answer gets highlighted and printed at the bottom of the page. It is really a fantastic tool for kids learning multiplication from very simple to more difficult. http://www.staidenshomeschool.com/mathsisfunmultiplicationtabletest.html Having spent the last week falling in love with scrapbooking (and I ask myself why Countries of Africa is still only at "B"), I thought it appropriate to feature as this week's site Ratty Tatty's Paper Cravings. The blog is owned by Tracey Dean, whose blog is http://www.rattytattysblog.blogspot.com/ She is a design team member for Papercraft Junkies, and a published Craft project designer and craft teacher and demonstrator and has an interest in wild life photography. She creates her own crafting digi papers which you can download for free on Ratty Tatty's Blog. That's it for this Monday in South Africa. It only remains for me to wish everyone a blessed and safe week ahead. As always if there is anything you would like to see on the site that is not there I will attempt to get it for you or at least point you in the right direction, you only need send me a mail. God Bless Donnette
