from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit
Drawing still life objects is one of the first projects an aspiring artist must master. The apple is an easy fruit to draw as it has a basic circular shape.
Steps
- Place a real apple on a table in a position that is most pleasing to you. Adjust for lighting so that shading/highlights are pleasing.
- Step back and observe the shape and values of color.
- Decide on the size of your drawing and if this is going to be a pencil sketch or a watercolor or an oil painting.
- Sketch in the basic circle shape of the apple.
- Add finer details like the stem and the depression.
- Draw extra detail like shade's, shiny spots etcetera.
Tips
- In a pencil drawing, shading the lighter and darker areas will bring the apple to life.
- In a watercolor, do not give fine details - just an impression of color and values will make your apple shine!
- While drawing, make sure to look at your object (apple) more than your paper.
- Add life to your apple! Try making it look sad or happy.
Things You'll Need
- A pencil, sharpened
- An apple
- Paper (A4 is recommended)
