LEPRECHAUN HATS
Lucky for you, these leprechaun hats wish everyone a Top O' the Mornin'!
Kids create madcap fun to celebrate wearing green. Everyone is Irish on St.
Patrick's Day! Kids can have fun all day making their Leprechaun Hats, even
write their names in Gaelic on them! Discuss St. Patrick and his influence
on Ireland. (Wee bit of a lesson plan here)
supplies
Crayons
No-Run School Glue
Glitter Glue
Blunt-Tip Scissors
household supplies
paper clips
construction paper
1. Please read and familiarise yourself with all safety precautions before
undertaking any crafts with little ones. Party on St. Patrick's Day---or
whenever leprechauns and fairies gather at a rainbow's end! Make and wear
this hat when you're in a festive mood.
2. With a Crayon on green construction paper, draw an oval large enough to
fit on top of your head. Cut it out with Scissors. Save the scrap paper. Cut a
point at the front of the hat. Cut a small U in the back. Draw feathers on the
scrap paper.
3. Decorate the hat and feathers with crayons and Glitter Glue. Include Irish
names and symbols, rainbows, pots of gold, or other designs that remind
you of leprechaun adventures. Dry.
4. Bring the two sides of the U opening in the back together. Glue with
School Glue. Hold the hat together with a paper clip until dry.
5. Cut out the feathers. Glue them to the back of the hat so they stick up and
show from the front. Dance an Irish jig while you search for shamrocks!
