What You Need Washcloths in bright colours and/or patterns Ribbon or lace Thread Scissors Sewing machine Procedure Take a washcloth and fold it in half. Take a length of ribbon or lace, fold it in half, and place it (folded edge in) inside the open edge near the top of the washcloth. Pin sides together -- make sure to capture the ribbon! Sew up side and on end (make sure you sew closed the end opposite where you put the ribbon!). Turn inside out, fill with soap or bath beads/salts and tie closed with ribbon. |
Photo Gallery Make a 3-D house with photos of your family! What You Need Pop Tart Box (or one of similar size and shape) Construction paper Scissors Tacky glue Pennies, pebbles, or modeling clay Tape Photographs of all family members (Get permission first!) The person should be alone in the photograph and the picture should be s Procedure The top of the box (with flaps intact) will be the top of the house. Decide what colour you would like your house to be and cover the outside with construction paper. Leave three extra inches of construction paper at the top all the way around (where the flaps are). Cut slits in the construction paper at the top corners, so that the paper can fold like the flaps can. Glue the construction paper to the flaps. This is where you can get creative! Trim the pictures into rectangular windows, or you may decide to cut carefully around the person's picture (sort of like a paper doll) and glue that to a rectangle of paper to make a window. Decorate the house, placing the windows and a door. You might want to include your family name - a message and the year. Put the pennies, pebbles, or the modelling clay in the bottom of the box to give the project some weight and keep it from falling over. Fold corners of the big flaps of the top of the box inward to make an upside down "v". Fold the corners inward, but leave them sitting like tabs, so that you can glue the roof to them. Fold the small flaps down inside the box. Decide what colour you would like your roof to be and cut the construction paper to cover it. Glue this on and then add any details you would like on your house (window boxes, shutters, flowers, ivy, or anything else you like)!

Book Of Kisses You will need : Materials paper scissors stapler markers or crayons lipstick How To Make It : Make booklets by cutting paper into 4 inch squares and stapling ten sheets together in one booklet for each child. In small groups, colour the children's lips with lipstick and have them kiss each page of the book. Send it home with a note explaining that the mothers can redeem each page for a real kiss. The mom's will love this gift!
SPECIAL TREASURE Use clean baby food jars. Spray-paint the lids with nontoxic paint. Use one of your favourite drawings or cut out a section from it to fit on the jar. Brush the outside of the jar with Modge Podge and place the drawing on it. Brush Modge Podge over the drawing. You can then sprinkle the outside of the jar with glitter. When dry, fill the jar with candy and give Mom the beautiful treasure!
IDEA FOR MOTHER'S DAY CARD: Have the children make a handprint on white or light construction paper and then add the poem below. Mother's Day Sometimes you get discouraged Because I am so small And always leave my fingerprints On furniture and wall. But everyday I'm growing I'll be grown up someday And all those tiny handprints Will surely fade away. So here's a final handprint Just so you can recall Exactly how my fingers looked When I was very small.
ANOTHER CARD FOR MOTHER Trace around your hand and cut it out of pink construction paper. Make flowers from coloured pipe cleaners; print "I Love You" on a heart and fasten it to the pipe cleaner. Twist the stems together and circle the flowers with a small paper doily. Tape the bouquet to the hand and paste the hand to the front of a coloured-paper folder. From coloured paper or cloth, make a sleeve for the hand. Print "For Mother" on the front and make up a verse for the inside of the card.
