| Activities for Preschool Part of the excitement of Easter is the actual Easter egg hunt. Kids love looking for eggs that others have hidden. Why not try some of these Easter crafts and activities for Preschool? Treasure Hunt Make a separate trail for each child and see who gets to their prize first. Write out or draw about 10 picture clues on separate pieces of paper. Each clue should direct the child to the next clue. The final clue tells them where to find their Easter treat. It's always nice to have an Easter basket full of different treats and decorated eggs. Remember to make the clues relevant to the child's age. Some ideas for clues are rhymes and writing all the words backwards or even drawing pictures of where the next clue is hidden. Hot and Cold Hide Easter eggs all around the garden or in the house. Use your imagination and don't make the hiding places easy. Let the children start searching for their eggs. Once they get close to the egg tell them they are "hot" or should they start moving away from the egg, they are getting "cold". Carry on until they have found all the eggs.. Picture Trail If you have a larger home schooling group or pre-school group this is great fun! Divide the children into teams. Each team needs to have at least two players.. Have separate trails for each team. This time the clues must be very straightforward. Give one player in each team the first clue, a pad of paper and a pencil. The player then draws the clue on the paper- no words allowed. The rest of the team need to guess where the next clue is. Whoever guesses and finds the clue does the next drawing, and so on. Try to make sure that each child gets a chance to draw. If younger children are in the same team as older ones, they never get to really participate. Try to divide the teams fairly. Although each team should be following a separate trail, the final clue should be the same for all the teams. The prize goes to the team that gets there the quickest. Games with Eggs Egg & Spoon Race Every child has a dessert spoon and a hard boiled egg laying in the spoon. The child may only use one hand. They need to all line up, one next to the other and run a short distance. The person who is first over the line, egg still on the spoon, wins. Throwing A Raw Egg Between Two People The children are divided into teams of two. One person stands about 4-6 feet away from the other. They throw the egg (not boiled) to one another. They slowly start moving further and further away from each other as they throw. The pair that is the last pair standing, or the pair that is standing the further away, wins. BTW.... This one is very messy and the smell of raw egg on clothes isn't very nice. Let the children wear old clothes or an apron when playing this game.. Oh!! And have Fun! Back to Crafts |
